Gtgtgrandfather Hiram George FINK who had been station master for the GTR in Brockville in 1871 (as per 1871 census). Because of this status, when he died, the GTR station in Brockville would hear of it, and perhaps cause a notice, maybe even an obituary to be printed in the Recorder & Times. L&G Branch Recently learned that he had moved away. He & his wife Lucina CLARK FINK in the USA 1880 census, employed by the Union Pacific in Ogden Utah!!

Ephraim CURRY (in Edwardsburgh twp.) also John CURRY. Suspect that John was the one who drew L9C2 Lancaster twp. in Glengarry county, his father James CURRY drew L8C2 Lancaster twp. John & James are my 4grt and 5grt grandfathers. Ephraim Curry is said to be James' bro but suspect that he may have been nephew. John built a house in 1806 which still stands at Curry Hill in Lancaster twp. It has recently been undergoing renovation and is being lived in after several years standing empty. It can be seen to the north of the 401 Highway at the last exit west of the Quebec border when the leaves are off the trees or more easily if you drive north up the road to it.

Is anyone working on William SNYDER? Suspect he may be related to my Jacob SNYDER in Lancaster twp. or Simon SNIDER in Ernestown twp.

Nancy ELLIOTT (Mrs. David R.)

grasriv9@twcny.rr.com

Have been researching my husband's family, the ELLIOTTS, for over six years, and have shared genealogy with several other Elliotts. His line of desc is through JACOB. There is some controversy among the people researching Jacob, over WHICH JACOB IS WHICH. Some evidence indicates Jacob who married Rebecca GERMAN was son of John (also buried Fulford Pioneer Cemetery. ) Others, feel that our Jacob is the BROTHER of John, who married Catherine. Is the Jacob who bought the lot with John, in Fulford Pioneer cem were father & son, or how they were otherwise related? Cannot move forward with search, unless I find out if John & Jacob were fath a& son. I would be most appreciative of anything that can confirm that.

Brick wall with GGF John MCGINN, grandson of UEL. Have thoroughly searched Ontario Archives looking for connecting links for shoemaker John. Appear that MCGINN/MCGINNIS name is associated with Kingston & Lennox Addington areas & our John, first found in Escott in 1849 on assessment roll, likely not born Leeds/ Grenville. Have expanded search to include Lanark & Kitley as parents of James MORRIS, John & Ann Jane MORRIS, (James was John McGinn's bro in law mar Mary Ann, John's sister.) first settled in Lanark ca 1817, moved to Kitley about 1830, where in 1851 James & Mary Ann living with James' prnts John & Ann Jane (CLARK) MORRIS. MORRIS fam moved to Escott ca 1865 & were associated with Richard Senior COOKE of Conc. I lot 16-17 Broken Front of Escott. Am looking for info on George & Susannah (DELORGE) FRASER; moved to Augusta ca 1812 with son James William FRASER, from Charlottenburg, Glengarry. George & Susannah mar in 1810 at St. Andrews Presb, Williamstown, Glengarry. James FRASER born in 1812, bapt at Williamstown; had a daug, Elizabeth, born 1811. bapt Williamstown according to church records Cannot find further info on Elizabeth, or prnts of Susannah DELORGE (my probable gggreatgrandmother) or George FRASER. What is interesting, a Susannah FRASER shows up married to Frederick WIDMARK (WEEDMARK, etc., my gggreatgrandfather) in the 1818 Marlborough, Carleton County census along with James FRASER who is the right age for Susannah's son. Wonder if George FRASER died between 1812-1818, poss during 1812-14 war, if there are any death records for him, or poss his daug Elizabeth. This could explain how Susannah with her son James FRASER ended up with Fred WIDMARK. Might there be a mar record for Susannah & Frederick 1812-1818? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Searching for their anc, RANSOM LOVEJOY. In B’ville found info re Ransom as an infant. Continuing efforts to find the parents of Ransom born in Elizabethtown c. 1799; listed on a local census as an infant in 1801, and also in 1804. His mother listed as Rosanna or Anna. The first census lists him as female (Rosanna) and his mother as Anna. I assume that the first census was in error. The father is not mentioned on the census. He said himself that "his people were from Connecticut." He is likely from the first LOVEJOY (John who mar Mary OSGOOD) who came from England. Ransom mar Mary BROMAGHIM in Ogdensburg, N. Y. (Oswegatchie) Her father was Francis BROMAGHIM (generally assumed that the named was originally BERMINGHAM, OR BIRMINGHAM.) Her mother was Mary SNIDER. Both from Canada. Ransom came to the U.S. about the time of the war of 1812 & lived with future father-in- law. The fams may have been from the same place in Canada; involved in the War of 1812. There was a family named EATON in E’town concurrently. Place names mentioned by the family are Prescott, St. John (N.B.). May have been Loyalists LOVEJOYS were lumbering people, Methodist Episcopal. Were related also to the TALLMAN & LYON fams in Ogdensburg may also have come from Canada. Some have spelled the name Lajoy. No known French connections. Given names of men in the family have been William, Hiram, Herbert & Henry. Suggested that Ransom's father was Henry or William LOVEJOY. Do not know route they took from their origin in the U.S. to Canada.; likely were connected to the New Hampshire,Vermont (Sharon), or New York LOVEJOYs. Would appreciate hearing from you if you think you could help us with this research.
