Marilyn Craig            marilyncraig2@mac.com

Have been doing genealogy research for many years. Ancestor lived in the area in the 1820s, 30's 40s & beyond. Made a trip to St. Mark's Church & did find some things, bapt records and such, but have never been able to find ANY record of my ggg grandfather, Paul LaPoint. No marr record to be found,
Paul LaPoint marr Margaret Cavalier between Jan 1830 & Mar1831. Although the children were bapt  St. Mark's in Prescott ,  bapt records are there,  no record of the marr, nor death of Paul LaPoint.  Poss died in the 1840's.  Believe  Margaret re-marr a Theophile Bartrand & had more children.   Have a record of my gg grandmoth's marr in Ogdensburg in 1849. She was Paul LaPoint's daug, a French Catholic, but marr an Irish Protestant (Church of England) man, James McConkey. She was 14, he was 22. They marr in Bacon's store in Ogdensburg,  did look there for Paul & Margaret's marr,  but found nothing. After that, they lived in Oswegatchie.

   From “Historical Sketch of  Carleton County , Ontario ” by Courtney C.J. Bond  1971

  Stephen BLANCHARD, Sebra BEEMAN and Richard GARLICKwere the first white men who entered the Township to make any permanent stay.  The former located at the site of the present Village of North Gower , in 1820:  Mr. Beeman in the 2nd Concession, about a mile lower down, on the main branch of Stevens’ Creek, in 1821; and Mr. Garlick about a mile above the mouth of Stevens’ Creek, Lot 24, Con 1 on the bank of the Rideau, either the same year, or in 1822.  These were all lumbermen, and all descendants of U.E. Loyalists from the front Townships.  They all had a number of men about them, many of whom, with their families, afterwards became permanent settlers.  They themselves, however, did not bring in their own families to live till after 1823”  page 238  “The Garlicks and Blanchards removed to the United States , or the western part of Upper Canada .  Some years afterwards Mr. Garlick was a man of considerable importance in the community.  He kept the first public house in the Township, and built one of the first boats on the Rideau – the “Bytown”.  Mr. Beaman was drowned at Becket’s Landing, on the Rideau, in 1832.  A son of his, William, is now a resident of Nanotick; but did not come back to North Gower til 1826, Mr. B. moved his family in.  They from Augusta, the “8th Town” of the St, Lawrence survey.”  p. 230.  Would like info on BILLINGS , GARLICK, BLANCHARD & MERRITT fams.

                                            mr.huelsemann@googlemail.com     Nine years ago my parents received an email from Mr. John Hülsemann (email account jmah@recorder.ca) in which he explained that his father (born in Germany ) immigrated to Canada in 1927.   He was doing some genealogy at that time and figured out that he and my parents have the same ancestry.  Unfortunately, due to some reasons there has never been a further contact than that email.  However, the email is out of date and I have absolutely no further information about him.  Therefore, I hope could possibly help me to find some current contact information of Mr. John Hulsemann or to forward my contact information to him.

Nancy Dalle   nancy0606@gmail.com

Am descended through Sarah Mallory who marr Byron Cyrus Hutchinson.  Working on genealogy project for our
Reunion this summer in Michigan . Have blanks I need to fill in & am looking for additional info.  Below is the Mallory portion of document.  Have 38 Families & 128 pages of notes such as below.  Am looking for detailed info not just names, dates & places.  As you see I have added in the information about the Boating Accident which took Nathaniel's life - I had not ever seen this before.    Sarah Mallory was born the 1st of September 1807 in Mallorytown, Leeds Co.  She married Byron Cyrus Hutchison on the 9th of June 1823.  She one of 5 children of James Mallory & Elizabeth?? Sibs were: Enoch, James, Joseph, and Lemuel.  Sarah died on the 1st of March 1862, exact city not known.

   NOTE:  Records indicate that husb Byron Cyrus Hutchinson d in 1830.   She had 3 children, Joel b in 1825, Rachael b in 1829, Russell b in 1837.  Who is Russell's fath if  not Byron Cyrus Hutchinson, or is Byron's death date wrong?

   NOTE:  If Byron is not Russell's father – Research will need to be conducted to see where this line leads to.   If this is the case, the Mallory line along with the Beardsley, and French lines can be eliminated from this family discussion.  Until this can be verified it will be included.

  James Mallory  b in Vermont sometime in 1785.   His marr date & time to Elizabeth ??? not known.   He one of 13 children of Nathaniel Mallory & Abiah Beardsley.   Sibs were, Daniel, Lemuel, Elizabeth , Peter , Israel , Mary, Andrew, Andrew, David, Masse, John, Catherine.   Date of James Mallory death not  located at this time. NOTE: According to Census records he lived Newberg, Cass , Mich in 1860.  Andrew listed twice, not sure if this accurate or mistake but found this listing five times so have included it. Nathaniel Mallory  b 16th of Aug 1752 in Fairfield , Conn , his & Abiah Beardsley marr date & place unk .   Nathaniel  is only known child of Daniel Mallory & Sarah Lee. Nathaniel Mallory d in a boating accident on the 8 th of March 1808 in Mallorytown, Leeds , ON     Daniel Mallory b  29th of May 1725, Fairfield , Conn. .   marr Sarah Lee date & place are unkn;  only known child of Jonathan Mallory & Abigail Hide;  d 18th of July 1805 in Redding , Fairfield , Conn.     Jonanthan Mallory b in Fairfield Conn in 1699; marr Abigail Hide date & place unkn; only known child of William Mallory & Anna ??   d in Redding , Fairfield Conn exact date unkn.   William b in Milford , New Haven , Conn   2nd of Sep 1675  only known child of Peter Mallory & Mary Preston & 1738 in Fairfield . Peter Mallory b in 1627 in Shelton , Bedfordshire, Eng & marr Mary Preston  Fairfield Conn on 12th  Mar 1648 .  When his fam migrated to America is unkn. Peter only kn child of Rafe Mallory & Grace Neal d   30th  Aug 1698 in Fairfield Conn.

 NOTE:  When Peter Mallory came to the Americas and on what ship is not yet known.  Rafe Mallory & Grace Neal marr Shelton ,Bedfordshire Eng 1608.   Rafe b 1582 in Shelton . Bedfordshire , Eng. only known child of William Mallory & Ursula Gale. Rafe Mallory d 1634 Papworth Everard, Cambridge Eng.   William b  Studely Yorkshire England in 1525, exact date??.   William Mallory & Ursula Gale marr Yorkshire England in 1549.   William only known son of William Mallory & Jane Norton died in Ripon Yorkshire England in 1603

NOTE:  William was a Knight and held the title of Sir.    NOTE:  The Mallory Line continues on, but cannot prove any other dates, so  research for this family line stops here.   Found notes indicating the Mallory line going back to a Kirkby Mallory born in Leicestershire England in 1314, but not evidence to verify this line.   The surnames that go with this line are: Driby; Plumpton; Tempest; Hamerton; Constable; Thwaites; and Norton;
