Carolyn Mary Adams, b 1946, in Poughkeepsie NY,. dau of J. Alfred Adams
was a direct descendant of Dr. Samuel Adams, grew up in Ventnor on the
family farm. His fath Herbert Adams, his moth Theresa
Thompson Lockerbie Adams. . Mostly have been searching for information
from Conn, but found little except for a great story about Dr. Samuel shooting
a man in New Hampshire as the revolutionaries were rounding up loyalist cattle
to feed their militias.
Certainly Old Samuel was a sharp character. We knew very little about
him before, just that he was uncompromising and troublesome. I am very
pleased to find your resource and story about him today.

Seekng info on fam of William & Agnes MacDonald who resided in the

marr Joseph Terrian at the time of death in 1935, was found in the

Gordon MacDonald of Kingston, Ont., Elizabeth Chapman of Gan, & Sadie
Butcher of Toronto. Am a descendent of Emily and am trying to put
together the pieces of her life. Any information is much appreciated.

Have become very interested in finding - not just dates & places &
other facts about ancestors, but the whys & the wherefores of events that
happened in their lives. For example, my gr gr grmoth Margaret
Burns & her husb John Alexander came from Canada (Margaret born in
Eds'burgh, ON 1843 to Thomas Burns, mother's name unknown) to Saginaw Mich ca
1867. Perhaps they had heard that Saginaw was a quickly growing city and
that there were jobs.
(John Alexander born Glasgow 1836.) Found John, a painter,
Margaret & 3 daus in 1870 Saginaw census; Catherine Moore, born in 1863
& Effie in 1865, both in Ont, & Allie in 1869 in Saginaw.
From extended fam have learned that John died suddenly; do not know exactly
when or where or why. Just know that in 1880 Margaret appears as Maggie
Bell, with Charles R. Bell (a Canadian wrestling champ) & 2 of the
Alexander girls - Katie & Allie, along with 2 young children, Thomas R.
Bell born in 1877, & Mable Bell born 1879.
Both Thomas & Mable were born in Ont. In fact - by accident - found
a birth record of Mabell Maria Bell born to Charles Bell & Margaret Burns
in 1879 in London, Ont. Charles R. Bell, born in 1831, came from England
to Americaca1843. ( think his roots were Scottish.) Two obits in
Sauk Rapids Minn contain these facts, also that he went back & forth
between Canada & U.S as a young man.
My mysteries are - what exactly happened to John Alexander? And what
happened to gr grmoth Effie when he died? She perhaps remained in
Mich.
There is a marr record - of an Edward A. Rhodes ( gr grfath's name) to an
Effie Hull in Saginaw in 1883. Do not know for certain if these are
grprts, but if so, how did Effie get the name Hull? Other records show
her with the name Alexander. Perhaps she stayed with a relative or
family friend after her father's death - she was approx 5 - 8 when he died.
It's nice for me to know that she did live in the Sauk Rapids area close to
her original family during her early marriage years. Sadly, Margaret Burns
Alexander Bell died in 1890 at the young age of 47. Her small children were
farmed out to other families. Charles, a blacksmith, died just 9 years
later, in 1899. When Margaret died, the 2 eldest daughters, Catherine
& Allie moved away (Effie had already gone to northern MN); Catherine to
the Wenatchee Valley, Washington State & Allie to the Minot North Dakota
area.
One other mystery - What happened to Margaret's mother, Mrs. Burns? what
was her full given name? It must be that she also died young.
According to Margaret's obit, she was the youngest daughter of Thomas Burns.
Perhaps moth died in childbirth.

Office of James F. Macleod 1870 I'm a
writer working on a piece about the early days of the NWMP. I read
somewhere that Macleod's law office was above a general store in Brockville.
Do you have a picture of that store?
If so I would be very interested in seeing a copy if possible.

Grandmother, Eleanor Agnes Reynolds(b; B'ville) 1885 mar Byron William Parker(
b: Lachine,Que,1882) in B'ville; moved to Winnipeg,MB. Have a great deal of
info about my Grandmother's side-her father was Judge Edmund Reynolds, mother,
Margaret Smart, desc from James Smart, Anne Bogue, Dr Thomas Reynolds, Eleanor
Senkler, Samuel Reynolds, Edmund J. Senkler. However in trying to
determine a United Empire Loyalist link, found an actual document that
was an interview given by my Grandfather Parker's Grandmother, Elizabeth Grant
Clark Parker ( b: 1819, Carillon, Que, d: 1903) that we believe was
written by my Grandfather Parker's step-mother in July 1,1901.
"My grandmother, Jemima Brundage's family came to Nova Scotia in war time
(Revolutionary in the States). She had two sisters, one married a Mr Buel, a
lawyer afterwards made a Judge. They came up to Brockville, Ontario. He owned
all of Front Street and was well off, the family lives there now"
Have been unable to find any connection to the Buell family & would
appreciate any info. As well, thanks to family's tendency to keep family
pictures, letters & diaries bequeathed to me, am willing to assist others
with interests in my family connections.
