Grandfath, William John JOHNSTONE,  born in B'ville Ontario 1 July 188?.
His fath William Cochrane JOHNSTONE, marr an Irish immigrant, Anne CARR, about 1882.  He  a desc of United Empire Loyalists who settled in Pennsylvania following their expulsion from Scotland.  One of his forebears was believed to have fought in the Battle of Chrysler Farm.  The family property in B'ville was a grant because of UEL service.  Having a really tough time trying to trace these people . Anne Carr outlived her husband & remarried a Mr. Plunket.  She died as a result of a fall while her sons were overseas during WW I.  The property was then sold.  The family was very active in the Anglican Church in Brockville, William Cochrane Johnstone was a musician, but perhaps not professionaly.  How do I go about filling in the blanks?

Am trying to clarify some Scott Family history in early Augusta Township.
My info says that John Scott came to Augusta Township in 1788 (or earlier) with three sons, William, Francis and John, to settle on Concession 3, Lots 6,7 and 8.  John (Jr ?) returned to New York. Two other sons did not come with father John.  BUT, History of L&G by Leavitt (one of the sources cited)  recounts the story of William Scott and his two brothers (Francis & John ?) with Joseph Knapp struggling to get to Canada with no mention of the Scotts' father, John!!!!! Unfortunately the year is not given. William's life span is given as 1733-1821 whereas a memorial stone indicates 1733-1833.
The memorial stone indicates a settlement date of 1783, which would be too early.  The stone doesn't indicate the Concession that they settled on, which we know is No. 3.
