Trying to find b pl of grmoth Ruth FERGUSON; adopted in Gan by John & Elizabeth FERGUSON (after 1881 census) owners of clothing store in Gan & Lanns. Bro Robert also adopted when fam in Kingston, ae 22 yrs in 1881. Fam in Brantford in 1891 where Ruth is 20. Does anyone know of orphanage or adopting procedure in L&G at that time?

Have several King’s Rangers muster rolls taken at St. John’s (St. Jean, Quebec) & found other ADAMS around Andrew ADAMS age (maybe bro) who originated from Conn who were also in King’s Rangers. James ADAMS, listed below was not from Conn but from Saratoga Co. NY; am interested to see if he is connected to other ADAMS listed.

ADAMS, Conn, age 18, height 5' 6", term of service 2 yrs 4 mos. Andw ADAMS Conn, age 20, height 5' 8", term of service 2 yrs 4 mos. Joel ADAMS Conn, age 17, height 5' 8", term of service 2 yrs 4 mos. James ADAMS Albany Co., age 25, height 5' 6", term of service1 yr 5 mos. Jan 27 1784 James ADAMS.
Anc were KEMPS also in Kings Rangers; disbanded at Cataraqui in Oct 1784. James ADAMS listed above was connected to KEMPS in some way. James ADAMS signed up on same day as Joseph KEMP & James ADAMS name follows or is close to KEMP names on various muster rolls. Joseph KEMP from Ballstown/Schenectady NY area, his fath John Sr.; bros James & John Jr.

Following trail of John SCOTT & Jemima FITCHETT listed as living in Cooyeymans NY in 1806 & reapper in Athol twsp Prince Edward Co in 1809. Have discovered a (private) (corporal) John SCOTT listed as memb of Jones Company of Ebenezer Jessups Rangers in 1780. Our John SCOTT was b ca 1757 prob in Scot; d in Athol twsp 23 Dec 1840. Could these be same person? Any assistance much appreciated.

Am trying again to find a way of finding records for Smith cemetery, Greenbus other than recorded on the tombstones. These individuals poss never had headstone erected. Two of the wives of William Powell SMITH should be bur in Smith cem. Ann Jane “Holiday” SMITH d 14 Feb 1877 in E’town 3 days after birth of son John Alexander McDonald SMITH b 10 feb 1877 & d shortly after. Harriete “Pimperton” SMITH d 21 Nov 1887 in E’town. At the time of deaths of both wives William Powell SMITH was listed as farmer. Since William’s bro John was informant for 2nd wife they should have been living in Greenbush area. Joseph Beatty SMITH’s son Robert Mansell should also be bur in Smith cem. He d 6 Jan 1882 in E’town. His moth Mary Delilah was informant. Mary Delilah mar Merrick MOTT after death of 1st husb Joseph Beatty SMITH in 1880. She d 22 Jul 1884 & should be bur Smith cem.
Milton Theodore SMITH was living on 8th con E’town when yngst dau Mary Ann moved with chdn to Prine Albert SK. Can anyone help find records of these burs.

STINSON Ernest MENZIES 1903 - 1982 his wife Mildred Humble 1910 - 1992. Found an obit for James in 19131 in Perth Courier but not for wife or children. Ernest’s son Gordon died B’ville Nov 2004 & bur in Westport; his obit in B’ville newspaper 3 Jan 2005 says “predeceased by his parents & by brothers Allen, Ralph, Kenneth & Ronald Menzies”. Do not know where any of these persons or Eva Maude STINSON lvd. Would like to find obits to ascertain more info.

In 1880 census he & Melissa in Iowa USA, farmer & carpenter. Browns ran Post Office in Elgin, had corner store & owned much property. Original ALGUIREs sett in Cornwall area.

Next Pratt child b in New Hartford, Minn in 1869. USA census 1870 indicates a Joseph PRATT lvd with the fam - he b Can 1792 & was blind. Do not know relationship to Franklin. Charlotte (Lottie)’s death record says she born in B’ville in 1866.

FRASER, now 51!! mar 1838; wife Sarah age 35; chdn all b Can: Christopher a law student 22; John a printer 20; Anne a dress maker 18 ; Margaret a tailor 16 ; William H. a printer 14 ; Celia 12 ; Mary 6 ; Oliver 3. The 1st Oliver must have died. Any info about fam but esp where they came from in Scot. Fam connection believed to be cousin of anc Ellen or Helen MacRAE whose moth was a FRASER , husb was John OATWAY, came to Can with chdn in early 1840's having FRASER relatives in B’ville & this is only fam by that name found in B’ville census.

Elmsley, christened in Presb church 27 Sep 1847; maybe mar 1860's. 70's, 80's. Seems to be error in deaths in this fam - Chrissy listed as dying in 1855, bur Craig St. cem. 7 yrs old but Christena in still living in 1900. Could this be Sarah listed erroneously? 2 ) John McTAVISH mar to Olive??? After 1881 & before 1901 ca 1884/85 (any death rec for John ?) What church would fam attend in A Gower?
