LAWSON, Robert age 11

In 1851 & 1861 Kitley census Mary listed as MORRISON; in 1871 & 1881 Kitley census listed as LAWSON. The Anglican diocese has a record of Mary LAWSON, widow, marriage to Francis MORRISON, but it would seem that her 2nd husb also died prior to 1851 census.

1879 Since the ice bridge formed at Prescott 2,454 teams have crossed - that the Customs Officer's know of.

From The Globe (Toronto, ON), 1 Jan 1901 (as reprinted in The Globe and Mail, 1 Jan 1999): "Through a Watertown, N.Y. attorney, Wilfred L. Bullock of Gananoque has brought an action in the Supreme Court to have his marriage to Lillian Elliott of Oakville annulled on the ground that he was insane when the marriage occured."

The S. D. & G. Genealogical Society, P.o. Box 1522, Cornwall, ON K6H 5R6 now has it's collection in the Cornwall Community Museum, Water St., Cornwall, ON. Sher Leetooze, Bowmanville, Ontario. R&S leetooze [mailto:lmjassoc@durham.net] I am part of a team putting together The Bible Christian Project and Road Show. This is an international project to bring the origins of the Bible Christian Sect to North America, showing people here the places from whence their ancestors came, and their places of worship, and then taking the information about their descendants, and the various pockets of the Bible Christian sect back to Devon and Cornwall. We are in the process of collecting data from both sides of the Atlantic. The project will have 3 main parts: a) a static photo display b) a video/slide presentation with commentary c) a book encompassing parts of both a) and b), as well as loads of other information that just doesn't fit the other two formats.

The tour will begin in Prince Edward Island, and then travel across Ontario before going back to Devon and Cornwall. Our projected "tour" date is summer of2005.

We are looking for input from the general public - photos ofBC ancestors, photos of BC_chapels

in their area, photos of towns/villages where there was a BC chapel. Also any letters that have survived, either from Canada to England, or England to Canada, to try to bring together a feel for the times in which our ancestors lived. Diaries of their journey would be wonderful!

I am also on the hunt for any information that ANYBODY has about Bible Christian congregations anywhere in Ontario, if you would know of any sources outside the United Church Archives - such as particular history books, etc. that describe these circuits, chapels. Any and all help with this project would be most welcome.

Many thanks to Tonja Arrambide for passing along the information on this excellent Civil War research site, http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwsslindex.html

Here's a great site if you're a Civil War buff or interested in genealogy. It's called the Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System. This is a huge database filled with information on people who served during the Civil War. There are over 5 million names in the database, and it's simple to use. Submit a query based on any of the following criteria: first name, last name, Union or Confederate, State, unit, and function. There's also information on battles, national parks, prisons, and cemeteries. This is a user-friendly site, heartily recommended for anyone who has ever thought of doing Civil War research. It's also great for demographics: if you are interested in where your ancestors were living during the Civil War period, just type in the last name and leave everything else blank. it will list all of that name currently on record. (If your ancestors used a variant spelling, type that in instead.) Just play around with the various categories; this is a veritable treasure trove of information.

THE CANADIAN GENEALOGY Centre adds A NEW online Guide FOR ABORIGINAL GENEALOGY Ottawa, February 23, 2004 - Library & Archives Canada is adding a new guide to its virtual Canadian Genealogy Centre. Titled Researching Your Aboriginal Ancestry at Library and Archives Canada (http://www.genealogie.gc.ca/02/020501a_e.html), the guide is designed for those who wish to undertake genealogical research on their Aboriginal ancestors at Library & Archives Canada. The production of this guide by the Canadian Genealogy Centre is part of a collaboration between Library & Archives Canada & Aboriginal researchers. The Centre also intends to work with Aboriginal communities & other partners on a second part of the guide, which would provide even more info on the sources available to researchers throughout Canada. According to Richard Collins, who wrote the guide & is one of the Aboriginal genealogy specialists at Library & Archives Canada, "the best part of this new tool is that it allows everyone to acquire the proper methodology to do effective genealogical research while avoiding numerous pitfalls." The wealth & diversity of Canada's Aboriginal cultures bring a unique quality to the lives of many Canadians. More & more people find pride in seeking out their Aboriginal roots as they turn to Library & Archives Canada for help in their research. To access Researching Your Aboriginal Ancestry at Library and Archives Canada, you can go to the Canadian Genealogy Centre Web site at www.genealogy.gc.ca, click on "How To" then click on "Guides." The Canadian Genealogy Centre is made possible through the support of the Canadian Culture Online Program of the Department of Canadian Heritage.
