The Mallory Family of Ireland...  About 20 years ago  Great Grandmother Mary E. MALLORY (born 1899  ON & died 1991 in Auburn, NY), wife of Jud MALLORY, told me a bit about my family history. I  remember she told me 3 things:
One of my relatives invented the Duracell Battery. I researched this to find the name of Philip Rogers Mallory but have not been able to trace lineage back to him.   Mallorytown, Ontario was named after a relative. Found this to be Nathaniel Mallory but  like P.R. Mallory  not able to trace lineage back to him.  Family migrated  from Ireland.  Recently  have been very interested in tracing the Mallory name back to Ireland if that is in fact where we came from.

Need help with some info about  ancestor & her fam. From the PERSI index at the Allen County Public Library in Ft. Wayne, IN, US,  obtained a copy of the following obituary from the Brockville Recorder:

TAUGHT SCHOOL IN CORNWALL AND NEWINGTON

Mrs. Mariah Landon Canfield, a former resident of this district, passed away on January 17 (she died in 1925) at her home in Sioux Falls, N.D. she was born in Algonquin, South Augusta, daughter of Samuel Landon, school teacher and she herself taught schools at Algonquin, South Augusta, Newington and Cornwall. Later she went to Illinois and taught school in the town of Austin, where she was married to a Mr. D. Canfield, also an educationalist. They conducted a private school in the town of Grenell, Ia. And later the deceased removed to Sioux Falls.
The late Mrs. Canfield lived to a good old age and reached her 89th birthday on December 7th last.
Some years after the death of her father, her mother was married to Alexander Mackenzie. She was the first postmistress appointed in Ontario and had charge of the office at Wright's Corners, now known as Algonquin.
In the 1880 US Census, Maria Landon Canfield listed her parents as having both been born in Canada, so I am wondering if her father could have been the son of the Samuel Landon that is shown in the list of "Our Ancestors?" She listed her age as 44 in the 1880 US Census, which was taken in June of that year. That puts her birth year at 1835, which is consistent with family records. I would greatly appreciate anything you can tell me about her Landon family, as well as her mother and her mother's family (for instance, if her mother's family were also UEL or had a different heritage).

Am a direct descendent of Elisha Crippen (1745-1815) & Mary Goodrich (1745-1840)  their son (John Crippen abt 1891-1853 & Mahala Clark? ).  The name Crippen was sometimes spelled with a G.   I understand that these Crippens were UEL but am not certain.  Mahala Clark may also been from a line of Clarks who were UEL..  Understand, they lived in Grenville County post Am. Rev to the early 1800s.

On checking the 1871 census for Brockville I found a John Steacy, age 55, who was listed as a contractor and may be  architect that I am trying to find.   On checking the death records at the FHC   found a John Steacy that verifies some of the census data. The record shows his death as 3 July 1888 in Brockville, but gives his Rank or Profession as Gentleman.  Looking for an obit or other info.
