Am based in the U.K. & have spent the last two years researching our family tree. One sticking point that I have is my mothers  eldest brother, William J Carter,  born in 1892 in Farway, Devon. He emig to Canada (unable to find date at present); settled in Crosby, Ont. In February 1916 he joined The Canadian Expeditionary Force and returned to Europe ( the only time he revisited his home) returning to Crosby, having survived and was awarded by the civic authorities with the presentation of a gold watch for his efforts in the conflict. I do know that he married Edith;  had two daus Grace (b.1918), Elsie (b.1920) & son William (b 1922). After that I have no trace of the family apart from William Junior returning on leave during World War II having enlisted.

Would like to find out the date of death of my grandfather Frederick William Lamb who emig to Ont some time after 1906; as in the Ontario Hospital, Brockville in 1936;  there is a Frederick W Lamb buried in Burkholder United cemetery in Barton, Wentworth County, but no dates given on the website.  If somebody has access to the records I would be grateful for a date of death if possible.  And, also an address to apply to get a death certificate.

I have in my possession a book of some considerable value, which came to me through my father's belongings when he passed away in Florida some years ago. While he knew I was a passionate pursuer of family history, it never entered his mind to tell me of this tome.

The book is Life and Times of the Right Hon.Sir John A.MacDonald by J.E.Collins, sold by subscription only. Its significance lies in the fact that it is inscribed, (in rather unique, by today's standards, script) "C.Richards Jasper Ont..1886", which makes the book 130 years old. We find a C.Richards in Jasper in census records for 1871,(Elizabethtown‑Kitley Twp.) at which time he was a merchant.   There is a possibility that this Mr.Richards may be related to Mr.Albert Norton Richards who, according to the author, on page 253 of said book, "Mr...Richards was appointed to the vacant solicitor‑generalship for Upper Canada, and returned for re‑election to his constituency, South Leeds." Mr.A.N.Richards was a prominent lawyer, member of the Liberal Party, and left the province for B.C., where he became Lieuteneant‑Governor of British Columbia from 1876‑1881.  I don't have access to records of his family, and am hoping someone there can fill in some blanks for me.

Fath was James Bernard Fee, born in Pembroke, Ontario in 1889, son of George Fee & Elizabeth Mackey.   The key record that defines my family in Ont is the 1891 Census: Fee 1891 census 095&1/2f family 099 (accessible via OGSPI). Grandfath is listed as George Fee, age 41, born in Ont, with parents George Fee & Margaret Kielty, both born in Ireland. It also lists my father, James,  age 2 at that time. According to my mother's records, my grandfath was born in B’ville, May 18, 1850. Also, I would like to determine the counties in Ireland where my great‑grandparents were born.

Saw reference  to "a Dunham man from Saratoga NY had indeed been a Loyalist and gone to Brockville."  Who would that be?  Is there a Dunham family history?

My particular interest is in the Rev. Darius Dunham (1762‑1825), a Methodist preacher who came to U.C. in 1792 and served the eastern province, finally settling near Napanee (m. Elizabeth Detlor).  Have never discovered his U.S. origins, but my suspicions are that he came from that northern NY area near Saratoga.  I wonder if he may be connected to the Brockville/Augusta Dunhams.  Is there a family genealogy available?  or a contact to whom I could write?

Silas Hamblin  a member of the Kings Loyal Rangers  make a land petition in Augusta..  Have Mary (Hamblen) Leeder to Rubert to William John (b1878) to William Hamblin (b1852, married to Sarah Coleman) to William H. Hamblin (b1809, married to Lydia Alguire).  Haven't been able to determine the fath of William H. It looks like Silas (the Loyalist) could have been William H.s grandfather. Have Silas Hamblin (b1748 married to Polley Lines).  He had 7 children.  David (b1780), Francis (female, b1782), Benjamin(b1784), Nancy (b1787), Silas (b1791, d1813, married to Elizabeth, died in War of 1812), William Lines (b1792, marr to Sarah Barnard), John (b 1794).  If William H.  b in 1809, his fath would have to be at least 16..  That leaves Silas, David or Benjamin.  William Lines didn't marry until 1816.  Do you have any info as to who is William H.'s fath? .  William H. & Lydia were marr in 1832 in B’ville Presb Ch by Rev. William Smart( see  The Rev Smart also married William Lines & Sarah in 1816.  In the 1851 census  William H. was living in Lansdowne Twp with Lydia & chdrn. According to the 1881 census William H. & William(b1852) & William John (b 1878)  all living in same house in Lansdowne Twp. The 1861 or 1871 census should show William (b1852) as being son of William H.  Until I link up William H Hamblin to Silas  will try to find other connections to Loyalists in the Hamblin fam .  William H. marr Lydia Alguire desc of Martin Alguire who was in the Royal Regiment of New York and is in the Loyalist list.

Believe am descended from Joseph White, Sr, through his dau Abigail who marr Truman Stone. By scanning the names, I also noticed Silas & David Hamblin, which is interesting since my g‑g‑grandmother was Elizabeth Hamblin (possible descendant of David Hamblin???). she  dau of William & Lydia Hamblin,  marr Samuel Wellington Stafford.

Not related to Joel Stone, his only descendants would be from 3 McDonald brothers?  Had an uncle, Ralph Sweet, who comes from John & Alpheus Sweet, not Charles or Oliver. However, his grandmother's name was Selora Wing (marr Melvin S. Sweet)

Understand from Canadian relatives that a cousin of my father's half‑brother worked as a gardener at the Fulford mansion in the 1930's and had a daughter who was a nurse.
