Searching for all infor including prnts of GREGOR HALL STUART born 6/26/1872; died in 1915; bur St.James in Philadelphia, PA mar 8/16/1899 to LOUISA ADELAIDE DAY Morton in Philadelphia; came from B'ville to Philadelphia, not sure when or what he did. Family legend has him or his father in the military in Canada; poss originally from Scotland via Ireland. Family legend also has his middle name "HALL" as his mother's maiden name.
One other bit of family legend had Gregor Stuart and his family living on or within a block of the St. Lawrence River and someone in his family drowned in the river. Doubt this tidbit is much help, but it is a tidbit.
******************************************In 1843, JOHN OTAWAY of Branstaple Devon England & wife ELLEN MACRAE of Wick, Caithness n Scotland arrived in Brockville with 3 young chdrn. They spent the winter in B'ville where a fourth child was born. The children who came over were: RICHARD MCRAE OTAWAY b May 24 1836 ; MARY ANN FRASR OATWAY b April 51838; WILLIAM HENRY OATWAY b Nov 121839.; born in B'ville was SARAH JANE OATWAY b Nov 261843.
ELLEN MCRAE was dau of PETER MCRAE & MARGARET FRASER who lived in Wick, Cathness Scotland. Family history says that Ellen "had Fraser relatives in the Perth District" who drove a cow to Brockville so that Ellen could have milk for the family. Besides the definite Fraser connection, one additional hint is the middle names of the oldest children are the surnames of their parents. One child who died before coming to Canada has the middle name Brodie. There may also be families
by that name connected somehow. Looking for who these Fraser relatives might be. If anyone has any information about Frasers in the "Perth District" who were intermarried to McRaes

Most anxious for any info fam of MATHIAS ROSE. We did a DNA study through the Rose Family Assoc. and have linked up with many relatives. None of us can find out Matthias Sr.'s birthplace or parents. We know that somehow we link up to the Rose's of Long Island and Hunterdon, N.J. but don't know the link between 1640 L.I. Rose's & Matthias of 1726. We know Matthias lived around the Albany and Saratoga area and was a scout in Jessup's Rangers. Also, one of the Matthias's was a Prisoner of War. Matthias also had a son Matthias and a son, Daniel. There is a DANIEL ROSE listed with being with Chief Joseph Brant of the Mohawks during the war. Would you have any info you would be willing to share?
